Ethermine vs. Nanopool profitability
Ethermine and Nanopool are two of the biggest mining pools for Ethereum. But which one is the profitablest?
Some days ago I startet a comparison and now I want share the result with you.
Configuration
For the comparison I have used four rigs: two mining on Ethermine and two mining on Nanopool. They all have the same hardware and software configuration. One rig has a hasing power of ~193 MH/s. Here are the details:
Hardware
- Motherboard: ROG STRIX Z370-F GAMING
- CPU: Intel i3-8100 @ 3.6 GHz
- 5 x GeForce GTX 1070
- 2 x GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB
Software
- EthOS 1.2.9
- Ethermine 0.14.0.dev2
Config
# global settings
globalminer ethminer
globalmem +470
globalcore 1500
globalpowertune 120
globalfan 90
# rig settings (replace xxxxxx with rig id)
# GPU order: 1070 1070 1060 1060 1070 1070 1070
pwr xxxxxx 120 120 90 90 120 120 120
mem xxxxxx 4270 4270 4650 4650 4270 4270 4270
Comparison
I started all the miners on 2018-04-03 at 20:00 until they reached 0.2 ETH. The result is represented in the next picture:
The difference is very small. Facts:
- Nanopool reports more (~6.8%) hashing rate than Ethermine.
- Nanopool seems to be faster (~2.5%) in the first 24 hours of mining.
- Ethermine reached 0.2 ETH in 6 days 15 hours and 42 minutes. Nanopool reached 0.2 ETH in 6 days 17 hours and 33 minutes. Ethermine is performing ~1.15% better!
Raw data
Conclusion
Ethermine is performing better, so I would choose it 🙂 Please leave a comment if you have done also some tests. It would be nice to compare other results.

Can i know which location are you.. as we need to know location ping with the pool…

Hello, it seems the comparison is different with Asic hardware, I earn about 0,1 Eth every 5 days with Bitmain E3 , about 0,6 Eth/month , with the same hardware now on ethermine I see about 0,43 Eth/month , about the hashrate on nanopool I saw about 200 MH/s avg, instead ethermine only 178 after 1 day, but probably that value will increase after few days….
Luca ( )
Hi Dario. Thank you for sharing this. The reported hashrate of Nanopool is higher than Ethermine. But end of the day, Ethermine had better results. For a better comparison I would suggest you to use two Bitmain at the sime time becuase the hash difficulty is changing constantly.

Hi Luca, sorry but I haven’t , bitmain can’t sell it anymore on international website , anyway I switched the E3 miner on dwarfpool because ethermine is lower than nanopool, I earnied 0,1 Eth in 6 days instead 5 of nanopool…dwarfpool show higher hashrate , in few days I’ll post the results….

OK, let me know 🙂

Hey Luca, nice trial.
I made the same trial on a Windows PC with 6 GPUs.
I was running two instances of phoenixminer in parallel with the same hashrate into the two different pools. In the first 24h Nanopool was roughly 10% ahead. After 4 days Ethermine was clearly ahead with around 5% more unpaid balance when I stopped both instances at the same time.
I have also shorter ping times with Ethermine pool.
Nice to see that we made similar trial with similar results.

Hi Gin, thanks for the feedback! In these days I am testing also the Binance Pool. It has lower fees (0.5%) in comparison with Ethermine (1.0%) and could be also an option.

so what did you tests with binance pool tell you?

Unfortunately I didn’t have time to finish it. Perhaps someone else have some results?

Luca ( )
Hi Renaud, I think that the profitability of Nicehash and Ethermine is more or less the same. I am still at Ethermine and happy with it. Br, Luca

Have 2 rigs one AMD 6700 xt 12 GB ( 300MHs ) and one Zotac 3060lhr 8 GB ( 200 MHs ). Both rigs have 6 of cards.
Just have payout on nanopool, so all transactions ( from pool to mew and from mew to kriptomat ) costs me around 14 usd— payout vas 0.05 (minimum on nanopool) ETH— today it means 107 usd or 95 EUR. It tooks aprox. 1 week to mine this. Any suggestions. Luca, thumbs up.

Hi Tomaz, it sounds good! Actually I am using HiveOS with Ethermine with a payout of 0.1 ETH (to reduce some transaction costs) that are withdrawn directly to Coinbase. To save some costs you could also withdraw directly to an Exchange that supports mining to it (fix wallet address). Best regards
